I’m always keen to look out for opportunities to be my own boss. I realise that to do so, it has to start with a small home business so that no high capital expenditure is needed for rent of office space, equipment, etc.
Many people these days are also looking out for such opportunities as a means to supplement their day job income as the economy becomes more uncertain over time. You just never know if you could lose your job this month.
I happen to go browsing for books over the weekend and I found many books that actually offer great advise, information, tips and secrets to how to start a small home based business. Head over to a Borders, Kinokuniya or even MPH. (Some tips though, I found more choices at Kinokuniya and Borders than MPH).
I cannot believe my eyes how many books you can find that will actually teach you step by step what you need to do to start a small business on your own. I quickly read through some of the books that stood out, and I found that most of them are suitable for people who know nothing about doing business to people who may have some ideas. So the books are a good start for people from all levels.
These books serve as excellent guides on how to start your own business and they are worth a read. You might just want to pick up two to three of them and that should be sufficient reading to get a kickstart.
Do take your time to browse through the many selection available, so that you pick the books that are most relevant and one that also suits your reading style. No point picking a book that you find difficult to comprehend or a writing style that you find hard to follow. You won’t get much out of a book that you are uncomfortable to leaf through, right?
If you do not want to spend too much to buy books on this topic, you can also rely on the internet to provide you with some good reads and tips on starting your own business. I found two interesting articles this morning about how to start your own mail order business and what to sell for your mail order business.
Whilst it may not be a complete fit to what you have in mind as your own small home business idea, these articles provide some general guidelines which are helpful to any kind of business start-up. So they are worth a read. Another site that you can visit which claims to have over 500 business ideas is Positive Money Ideas.
These websites are free resources you can tap on so there’s no harm in seeing what you can pick up from these articles. Good luck!

So is there good books to recommend after reading it? The simple one would be nice.. TQ
I especially liked a book called 101 Best Home Businesses by Dan Ramsey. It was interesting for me because it listed out some possible business ideas to go into and what you can expect to start it up. Those ideas may not materialise or apply here, but at least it starts to generate more ideas in you.
