Good idea to have stricter regulations on purchase of binoculars?

by specky on August 21, 2010

Lately I’ve read a lot of disturbing stories about some peeping toms who use binoculars to spy on unknowing victims, most of whom are neighbours. Imagine the kind of invasion of privacy not to mention a deep personal violation.

These peeping toms sneak up on their neighbours and watch them in the act of changing or having intimate moments with their spouses. I don’t know how they manage to do it but some of them were caught by the authorities and they confessed to such acts. How sickening.

Just be careful about life, I would suggest. Even when you’re in the privacy of your own home, sometimes it pays to draw the curtains or close the windows for real privacy.

I’d say the authorities should exercise more caution in the sale of such equipment too. At least to avoid having so many peeping toms around if these equipment require registrations prior to purchase.
